Sound Art
In June 2016 ArtMix took part in some sound art workshops with artist Bex Harvey. The group were tasked with creating new sounds using a selection of found objects (bubble wrap, motherboards, steel pipes, bike wheels, clothing pegs and plastic tubes to name but a few!) These noises were then recorded and used to create soundscapes.
In the second part of the workshop the group worked on making their own flat pack instruments using pieces of pre-cut wood and some very sturdy rubber bands. The sounds they made were incredible and the technique for playing them required little expertise but a lot of energy! It was really interesting to use non traditional materials to make sound art and it was really inspiring to have time to play and experiment with this technique.
